Scots pine #22

This is a very interesting Scots pine, Pinus sylvestris. It was collected in 2007 in Finland by Reiner Vollmari from Dortmund, Germany. See the development afterwards. This was one of the ugliest pieces of material I have ever seen. The unsightly bulb comes from a position of the tree in a stone where it strangled itself over many years. See what Reiner made of this. After five years Reiner has converted this most ugly duckling into a coming swan. Reiner unfortunately is no more. I have acquired the tree two months ago from his son. Yesterday Patrick did some major styling. Now the crown looks very empty, of course. Next summer it will be much denser again and more swan-like.
